To ease yourself into using retinoids, start with a pea-sized amount every other night for the first week, then every other night for the next two weeks, and so on.

2. Stay hydrated

People who have dry skin should look for mild hydrating powerhouses such as hyaluronic acid and glycerin.

4. Exfoliate

Exfoliating your face is very important for getting and keeping the best skin texture.
It prevents flaky and dry skin.

That said, use only chemical exfoliants instead of harsh scrubs to get rid of dead skin cells.

Dr. Laurel says not to scrub too hard or use exfoliators with too rough a texture, as this could cause abrasions and skin damage. She also says not to overdo it.
